The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter

The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter

I bow down to Karin Slaughter because I am in complete awe of the mind that can craft a story such as this.  The Good Daughter was absolutely FANTASTIC --  I can not rave enough about it and I would give it a million stars if that were possible.  If you are familiar with Karin's work then you know her subject matter is dark, graphic, violent and not for the faint of heart.  The plot in this book is brutal, intense and extremely well written.  Everything in me broke for Charlotte and Samantha and I loved how complex and well developed their characters were. There are so many twists and turns written throughout that just when I thought I had all the answers, something new would develop and I would have to throw my theory out the window.   Emotionally, this book gutted me.  I found myself stunned, speechless and in tears towards the end.  I can not think of a more EXCELLENT thriller to kick off my October scary reads than this book.  If you are looking for an intricate, visceral, gritty plot with phenomenally strong female characters who survive and overcome an unimaginable event, then this is the book for you.  ALL.  THE.  STARS.

Disclaimer:  I do want to say that this book centers around an incredibly horrific murder and physical assault, as well as a school shooting.  If that is a trigger for you in any way then please do not pick this one up.
