Pour a large glass of wine and prepare to lose yourself in the scheming, seductive world of the Lawrence family.   Andrea Dunlop’s latest novel sizzles with decadence, desire, betrayal and murder and you need it in your hands immediately.   I did not know much about this one going in other than the cover was gorgeous and that it was a glimpse in to the world of an elite New York family.  I assumed it was a bit Gossip Girl meets Sex and the City meets Big Little Lies, so obviously I was all in.  But once I was in the thick of it, I realized that there was so much more going on within these pages than socialites prancing around in their Louboutins back from their latest shopping spree at Bergdorf’s.

This is a story about ambition, about the burning need for acceptance, and about how far we are willing to go to get what we think belongs to us.  When Laila learns of her connection to the insanely wealthy Lawrence family, she seizes the opportunity to flee her life in her small Midwestern town and upgrade to a life of wealth and luxury beyond her wildest dreams.   Suddenly a world has opened up to her that she never knew existed  and Laila is quickly seduced by the lifestyle that her cousins lead.  Once Laila discovers the reason that her parents became estranged and abandoned the family, she becomes consumed with claiming what she feels is owed her.  I will admit that I experienced every emotion under the sun while reading this  -- I yelled, I cringed, I gasped, and felt ALL THE THINGS as Laila wreaked havoc in her attempt to climb the social ladder and establish herself within New York Society and in her newly discovered family.

Though this book is packed with scandal, juicy gossip and secrets, it is also a compelling commentary on class and privilege and the constraints that women face whether they have $200 in their bank account or $200,000.  It provided an often times uncomfortable look at the lengths some people are willing to go to and the sacrifices they are willing to make in order to achieve the life they want.   Dunlop brilliantly weaves an engrossing, multi-layered plot and once I started this book I could not put it down.  There are several cliffhangers throughout and I am hoping that a sequel is in the works because I have SO. MANY. QUESTIONS!!

If you are looking for a book to lose yourself in and for a lively discussion at your next book club meeting, She Regrets Nothing is the book for you.   I loved it so much that I sent several copies out to my friends for Valentine's Day and I think that once you read it, you will want to share it with others too.  Thank you, thank you to Atria Books for sending me this incredible story.  4.5 seductive stars.
