I have had a book in my hand for as long as I can remember. I absolutely LOVE to read. My “go to” genres are psychological thrillers, southern fiction, memoirs and historical fiction, but I will read anything if it piques my interest. Some of my favorite authors are Virginia Woolf, Jesmyn Ward, Leesa Cross Smith, Maya Angelou, Louise Penny, Jo Nesbo, Karin Slaughter, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ken Follett, Fatima Farheen Mirza, Barbara Kingsolver and the poetry of Emily Dickinson. I started this blog because of my passion for books with the hopes of connecting with other bloggers and writers who share the same love. I have met some amazing people in the Instagram community and now co-curate a wonderful online book club known as Salt Water Reads. Every month my good friend, Kourtney Dyson and I select a newly released novel and read along with our members online. We have been extremely fortunate to have great author involvement and participation. All month long there are several opportunities for our readers to win themed bookish swag. If you have been looking to connect and get involved in a book club, I encourage you to check us out on Instagram at Salt Water Reads.
My first year and a half on Instagram has been an incredible one. I became a judge for the amazing Book of The Month and I have been a book/brand ambassador for several publishers and products. As of August 2018, I am excited to announce that I have partnered with the Amazon Influencer Program so you may occasionally see referral links for books underneath my reviews. These links will be clearly designated as such since I receive a small percentage of each sale. Books are my passion and it has been a long time dream of mine to one day open my own book store with a coffee shop and a reading clinic filled with therapy dogs. I can think of no better way to spend an afternoon than curled up in a large chair with a great book in one hand, a large coffee in the other and a big, fluffy dog at your feet. A reading clinic is a fairly new addition to my dream but such an important one. The clinic my son attends has been incredible in providing him with learning strategies for his dyslexia and in helping build his confidence as a reader. His eyes now light up when he sees a a book and he is eager to read anything he can get his hands on.... to be able to give that joy to other children would be amazing. I am slowly but surely, working towards making that dream a reality.
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my book blog. I hope you will visit again soon!
