If you have been following me for a while then you know one of my favorite people on this earth is Kourtney of Kourtney's Bookshelf. Not a day goes by that we don't text each other at least 50 times a day and I have had some of the most passionate book discussions of my life with her. We both live in southern states off the Gulf Coast and we share a dream of one day owning a bookstore on the beach. Since making this dream a reality is a bit down the road for us, we thought we would try starting an online book club in the hopes of connecting with other people who shared our passion for books. So last July, Kourtney and I launched Salt Water Reads, an online Instagram book club that focuses on female authors, particularly those who are releasing their debut novels out in to the literary world. We never dreamed that we would grow the way that we have or develop such wonderful relationships with so many incredibly talented women. We have been fortunate enough to work with amazing authors and publishers over the course of our first year and provide a platform for authors to connect with readers, promote their books, and enjoy spirited discussions at the end of every month. We are currently reading The Incendiaries by R.O. Kwon for the month of August and we will be reading The Fruit of The Drunken Tree by Ingrid Rojas Contreas in the month of September for our first ever book club collaboration with Lit on HST and Words Between Worlds. We would love for you to join us.
"Saltwater Reads brings together a fantastic group of readers with a wide range of interests, backgrounds, and tastes. As a debut author, having my novel selected as a Saltwater Read introduced me to a supportive and passionate community that values discussion, creativity, diversity, and--above all else--the joy of savoring a great story. The relationships I've built with this readership inspire me every day, both as a reader and writer. " - Elise Hooper, Author of The Other Alcott, An Indie Next Pick and People Magazine Pick
“Salt Water Reads is a wonderful community of passionate and engaged readers. Stacey and Kourtney are amazing advocates for authors and their books. It was an honor to be a featured author for Salt Water Reads and I had a lovely experience chatting with their readers.” - Chanel Cleeton, USA Today bestselling author of Next Year in Havana
"When Salt Water Reads chose my book as their monthly read, I was beside myself with excitement. SWR is the creme de la creme of online bookclubs, and I had so much fun interacting with both Kourtney and Stacey and all the fabulous readers. Did it make my book a success? Absolutely. But I also gained me a whole new reader community to interact with, new friendships I treasure, and a lot of great book recommendations. What a win-win!" - JT Ellison, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author
"One of the highlights of my time as an author on Instagram has been connecting with Salt Water Reads book club. Such a smart, engaging and enthusiastic group of book lovers: It was a joy to hear their insights and reactions to my novel, and to make personal connections that I still value, all these months later. Instagram is a richer place for authors because of Salt Water Reads." - Janelle Brown, New York Times bestselling author
